Synopsis
The acclaimed series based on Margaret Atwood's dystopian novel. A religiously motivated autocracy has taken over most of the United States, renaming it Gilead. In this society, women are treated as second-class citizens. Offred is one of the few fertile women, known as Handmaids in the totalitarian Republic of Gilead. She serves as a reproductive surrogate for a powerful Commander and his wife, but soon a consequential resistance begins to stir within her.
